Help stand up for Breast Cancer Twitter Party. follow hashtag #GIVEHope
I never really thought much about breast cancer till 3 years ago. A wonderful friend of mine was diagnosed with it. She did not do the self exams nor visit a doctor regularly. She left behind three great kids and alot of people that loved her. I belong to a wonderful site called SheSpeaks . The website allows a diverse group of women to come together and discuss , as well as review products. They also join together with different companies for some real good causes. SheSpeaks along with P&G Give Hope will be joined by breast cancer survivor and TV personality, Giuliana Rancic. On Thursday September 20th at 3 pm there will be a Twitter party follow hashtag #GIVEHope . The topic will be the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Breast cancer has a 98% percent survival rate if detected early. It does not just affect women but men as well. 1 and 8 women will develop breast cancer. Last year there were more than 2.6 million breast cancer survivors in the US. One way to help yourself is to do a breast self exam monthly. If you notice any changes, lumps, bleeding or discharge see your doctor right away. Being obese or over 40 also increase your risks. It doesn't take but a few moments to do the exam. One way is to stand in front of a mirror inspect your breasts with your arms at your sides, with your hands on your hips, and with your arms raised while flexing your chest muscles. I found this info on Web MD here is the link they have some great stuff on there. Self exam
